Ruby Balls

Synthetic ruby, known for its exceptional hardness second only to diamonds, exhibits excellent high-temperature resistance and is resistant to damage or deformation in high-temperature environments. It also demonstrates strong corrosion resistance to acids, alkalis, and other chemical substances. The material has a density of 3.9 – 4.0 g/cm³, a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, a melting point of 2050°C, and excellent wear resistance.

The ruby gemstone contains traces of chromium. They contain a trace of chromium to produce its red color, making it easier to identify and making it visually appealing. As a form of monocrystalline aluminum oxide-based ceramics, ruby balls boast impressive durability and resistance to wear. They are also transparent, making them an excellent choice for optical applications, especially when clarity is crucial. Sapphire balls, like their ruby counterparts, are made from monocrystalline aluminum oxide, offering similar durability and resistance. Sapphire balls are however clear and colorless, making them ideal for applications where color interference might be an issue. Measuring nine on the Mohs scale, sapphire balls are incredibly hard, ensuring longevity in high-wear applications. Finally, cubic zirconia balls offer a balance of quality and value. With a rating of 8 – 8.5 on the Mohs scale, they’re hard and durable. A high refractive index makes cubic zirconia ideal for optical applications, especially in lenses. However, still durable, cubic zirconia may not offer the same wear resistance as ruby or sapphire.
